Pilates is absolutely amazing for your body! I cannot say enough about it! But let me start by giving you a little history…..

What is Pilates?

blast-that-mommy-tummy-with-these-simple-pilates-movesPilates is the art of controlled movements. If practiced with consistency, Pilates can improve flexibility, build strength and develop control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. The core, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, low back, and hips, is often called the “powerhouse” and is the key to a person’s stability. Pilates allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. 

What can Pilates do for you?

Pilates was an absolute lifesaver after both of my pregnancies, especially my twin pregnancy. At a time when my core was kinda nonexistent, it was very easy to get back into the swing of things when I could go at my own pace while pushing myself to do better every single day.

Pilates is easy on the joints and allows the body to condition itself without lifting any weights in the gym. Pilates is perfect for anyone, honestly. Doesn’t matter age, body type or fitness level, you can do it!

As you know, I participate in many forms of exercise and am an active instructor, but I wasn’t always! I did not always participate in Pilates. When I discovered Pilates in my twenties I decided to give it a try and see what the fuss was all about. Little did I know we would be here fifteen years later talking about it on my blog and sharing my love for it! Pilates has helped me on several occasions get my body back!  Pilates is my all time favorite and is one I come back to over and over again. I do at least, two sessions a week and my body feels amazing.

No matter if you have done a Pilates class or not you CAN do the Pilates exercises below easily. Take your time and execute the exercises right and you will reap the benefits, I promise!
