My little girl turns six on January 9, so I felt it was only appropriate to share our prayers for her. It is so hard to believe that she is turning six! I feel like it was only yesterday that she came into this world in such a timely, yet only her kind of style, manner! Chris and I were told we only had a seven percent chance of ever having children, so when we got the news that she was on her way we were ecstatic. Not just because we were having a baby, but because God is so good and we couldn’t wait to tell our story of how she came into this world and how God prevailed! We are a walking testimony and we love to tell our story! God is so good! So without further ado here are our prayers for our sweet and spunky girl:

  1. Women are to be loved and respected. I pray I can be the model of what God calls women to be, so you have a good perception of a true Godly woman. Don’t let anyone push you around!
  2. Be a lady, speak kindly, show respect to your elders and hold your tongue! I pray we are good examples of this, always.
  3. Seek after God’s heart. I pray you become a woman of God that knows how to pray unconditionally for her family and with your husband daily. The most important thing in the world is to become a disciple of God. When everything else fails you in life, always fall on Him. As long as you are right with God and you follow the path of salvation you can’t go wrong.
  4. Accept others for who they are, they may not do it the way you want it done or think it should be but, accept them the way Jesus does, flaws and all.
  5. Do not lose faith! Always keep moving forward, don’t slow down. If God believes in what you are doing keep going, there is a reason. There is also a time and a place for everything, it’s all in His timing, be patient He will come through.
  6. Love letters are legacies. Mine and your dad’s letters to one another, as well as our letters to you will be our gift to you one day when we are gone from this earth. The art of pen and paper should still inspire you, write a note to show your appreciation.
  7. Be the holy spirit of your home. I pray you fall into the role that God calls you to be, the holy spirit of your home. God needs intercessory for His kingdom! I pray I can be a good role model of this everyday.
  8. Always be proud of who YOU arewe are! I pray if you can’t be proud of yourself, turn to God and ask Him to show you what He sees in you. He will remind you.
  9. Respect your body! I pray your daddy and I can be good role models and teach you to take care of yourself. Treat your body as your temple. You only get one, use it wisely!
  10. You can do anything you set your mind to. As long as it is the will of God and you have God on your side you can do anything. Don’t let your gender, lifestyle or status hold you back from anything! You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13, YouVersion) You will always have God, as well as your daddy and I on your side!
  11. Be a sister. Be a friend. Be a protectorOne day your daddy and I will be gone and your siblings will remain. Treat each other with respect always, be there for one another, support each other, love each other no matter what. Family is the most important thing.
  12. Your birthday is one of my favorite days of my life. I pray your kids’ birthdays are as special to you as yours’ are to me. I actually have three favorite days, my wedding day, your brothers’ birthday and your birthday. I cherish all three of your birthdays. That is the day God chose to welcome you into our lives. (And what a production it was. :-)) I’m sure your birthday means more to me than you can ever know or imagine.
  13. Work hard in everything you do. Don’t expect it to be handed to you. It very rarely works out like that and it’s not as rewarding.
  14. Marriage is a covenant of God. I pray your daddy and I show you the way a healthy marriage should be. I pray we show you that it’s not always perfect in a marriage but, with God you can get through anything. One day, the right man, who God chooses for you, will come along and I pray you love each other unconditionally, seek God everyday together and raise my grandchildren the way God intended.
  15. Be a teacher, not just a mother. You are your child’s first teacher. I pray you take this job seriously.
  16. Pray! I pray you are a woman who prays about anything and everything! God loves you talking to Him.
  17. Beauty comes from the inside, not just the outside. I pray you realize that beauty comes from within; the good deeds you do, the love you show to others and your sweet spirit shows your TRUE beauty.
  18. Your daddy and I love you! I pray your daddy and I show you everyday how much we love you. I know we will and do make mistakes, show us a little grace and know we did the best we could. We love you and always will!

Anyone who has a little girl in their life knows how important it is to show them the face of God. I pray Chris and I can do just that! I pray everyday for God to show her self-worth and to show her that her true beauty comes from within.

I know some of our prayers are the same as my boys but, I feel these prayers are so important no matter what gender. My prayers will change for my kids as the years go by, but for right now I pray my kids can see the face of God through Chris and I every single day!

What are some of your prayers for the children in your life?
